Pulling my hair out, 4 days on this machine and doesnt make sense, day 1 machine stalled and would not restart in a trailer, co-worker went out, replaced LPG coupler, wires plugs etc, regulator (he's about replacing parts, not trouble shooting) customer called me said he couldnt get it going, I come out, determine fire, and regulator, 1.5 psi, took apart mixer, cleaned reassembled, reset power valve, and fuel/air. no start, but was kicking, pumped accelerator a couple times, started and stalled when throttle was opened. Day 2 came back, checked and rechecked, fuel delivery, same thing, no start, but once in while would start but died when throttle opened, said I have to have a LPG problem, so got some gas (dual fuel) cleaned everything out primed it and it started, ran good for 2 minutes then died out, would not restart, checked distributer, I adfvance it all the way to the back of the machine, started right up, but had a small bind, as if the timing was off, but ran perfect, took distributor out and checked to see if it was off a tooth, wasnt, reinstalled advance all the way started up, ran perfect for about 30 mins, then died would not restart. day 3 took covers off timing gear, wound engine, checked TDC cam at 3 oclock, alighned with small mark crank notch alinged with notch in housing, oil pump gear off to 2 ocloc, looking with the frint of the engine, so timing is on, rechecked air gad on p/u,.35mm OK, still have fire. Day 4 machine started right up on LPG, ran great for 10 mins, then was sputtering but revved up, switch it to gas, ran good, same thing, sputtering but revving, dist still advanced, switch back to LPG, ran great for a wile, then dies, hard to restart but does restart. Ballest rester at I thin 6 or 60 ohms, had a short in the little switch in the carburator or solenoid, checked and rechecked vaccums, intake leaks, everything, it seems like a lean condition, but does not make sense to me what so ever!! non EFI, this should be simple, compression at 150 across the board, and when does start, runs great, unhappy customer and I'm at the end of my rope, Any bo\dy seen something like this, or any advise on what else to check could save my life!!!

Had that prob on another machine. I got the engine running, found out they overheated it, made new carb gaskets, installed new intake gaskets, engine ran perfect, they loaded 2 trucks about 3 hrs, then went to s**t again, now it starts alright but spits and sputters when revving up the engine, going to put timing light on and see because now its binding when turning over, removed distributer, cleaned and checked, no difference.

had a similar problem once, turned out to be a baffle in the muffler that would block the exhaust flow. hard or no start, little or no acceleration when blocked. start and run good when open hit bump and exhaust would plug and start process over. seemed that cool down and shaking from starter rotation would move blockage enough to run ok. found problem with a good old fashioned vacuum guage.

easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.
Both solenoids are fine, I've even tried that, I sprayed WD40 looking for intake leaks and also used gas down the carb to prime it, I dont think its a fuel prob, because you have 2 different systems, a carb to atomize the gas, and a seperate mixer to mix LPG and air

You're going to have to figure out if that's electrical or fuel. Maybe get it started and run it until it stalls. If it doesn't want to start, spray some WD-40 in the air intake and see if it fires. If so, then you know it is not getting fuel. Don't you have fuel lock solenoids on the gas and LPG? Are they working ok?
