I have got a BT reach truck with 8500mm mast with full free lift. The mast free lift doesn't work as it should before the carriage reaches it maximum the second stage starts to lift. The fault is worse with a load on. The carriage bearings have been changed and the carraige runs very smooth. The lift cylinder has been stripped checked and resealed and the flow control valve in the cylinder has also been changed. Any help would be appriciated.

The fault turned out to be a faulty chain pulley.
Free lift cylinder has been checked and resealed. There wasn't a problem with it but we resealed just incase there was something we missed.
Seems to be a problem of internal leakage in freelift cylinder.
Try to pull out the thin tecalan hose from roller chain, if excess oil flows through this hose you have internal leakages in cylinder
Good luck
Seen this before on a RR E3 with 8 metre triplex mast & it was the freelift cylinder defective.
The one we had if there was any weight on the forks the main lift would reach its full extension before the freelift would even move.
