I bought a BT RR B3 2006 reachtruck a couple of months back. Machine is doing all it should be doing except for some small niggles.
First of all, the display is showing time.. Erm.. A time at a place on this planet which certainly is not mine..
Does anyone know how to set the clock?
The truck has a weighing function built in. When I press the button and start lifting the movement is slow (which I assume is normal) and then goes to normal speed. The display always shows zero as the weight.
It doesn't matter if I'm lifting nothing or lifting several 100kgs.
Is there any way to set or check what's going on?
I also found a display in the ceiling panel of the truck. It stayed dark while operating the truck but as I am curious I removed the panel and found the connector unplugged :)
Plugged in the connector and started the truck, display switches on, some segments light up in kind if a startup sequence and all I see after that is dots.
The display is a height indicator so I found out, but is there a way to check why it's not showing anything?
apart from an invoice I have no documentation with the truck. I have seen some posts about service and parts manuals. Are these available for this truck?

Silly question... How do I get them out? :D
Hi Yvo,
I see you are in waddinxveen. When you need service: I know SVL is a good company. They can certainly help you. (not affiliated).
About te battery topping system: most likely the two floaters of those cells are stuck or leaking and filled with water. Pretty straight forward: get them out and you'll see how this works.
Don't know about the discharge indicator, but when you use it very little as you say, just charge it once every two weeks and you'll be fine.
GL.
I've got no idea about the batteries; there is no brand name visible.
The charger is a Hoppecke trak air/HF
As with the rest, no paperwork received but it looks like a fairly intelligent charger as it has LED's for empty, mid, full and alert.
It also has a display which shows the current flowing and it has two leds below each other which show a battery with a diagonal line where one seems to be diagonally empty and the other one seems full.
I can also connect a PC to the charger but without any software or cable that's not going to work :)
What make of battery is it?
What kind of charger are you using?
Unless it's a modern smart battery charger you have to be careful when you put a battery on charge that doesn't really need charging as some of the older type chargers will just ruin the battery in a short space of time.
The battery gauge on the dash can be adjusted BUT you need the BT can service key & to know the Ah rating of the battery plus follow the instructions in the service manual to get it correct, again if you get the setting wrong it can ruin the battery in the long run.
lol.. I guess they won't be impressed.
I'm not unhappy with the truck, don't get me wrong.. it's just that there's this few niggles which I wanted to sort and the feedback I got from the seller is in a 'I don't know Sir' kind of style.
The only other thing I'm slightly worried about is the battery. It's got this auto float system. You can connect the water can and it will automatically stop feeding water when the battery is at the right level.
However, two of the cells keep spilling water out of the top.
Same happens when charging, these two cells always produce water / acid which is not ok.
Can there be any incompatibility between the battery gauge and the actual batteries? I've ran the truck for three weeks now (very low use) but never seen the indicator leaving the 100% full position. Is that possible or do I have a potential problem in that area?
Sounds like you have a bitsa
Don't worry about the steer motor date, these do get replaced on older Reflex.
So the mast looks like it was made 29 May 2008 according to the sticker, that is possible, masts are easily swopped on these.
The electronics & dash fitted on this Reflex date it pre September 2004 while the serial number on the data plate date's it to 2003 production.
I wonder if the serial number on the data plate is even a Reflex?
Might be worth ringing BT / Toyota up & asking the service desk nicely, just say you rang up to let them know you have bought this truck in case of future BT safety campaigns.
hmm.. the plot thickens..
I've looked behind the seat and guess what.. no metal tag but I could find the remains of the rivets so it's been taken out.
When looking under the seat, the steering motor has a production date of 2007.
The mast sticker mentions Mast nr 5570005 and Manufactured 080529
Sounds fishy...
Just going from the serial number posted it makes the production date 2003.
Is the metal serial number tag still behind the seat & riveted on?
I will check on Friday but that serial number seem's a bit to old to be a 2006 manufactured BT forklift.
I'd expect a 2006 machine to have a serial number starting with at least an 8 but more likely a 9.
What production date is on the MAST id stickers?
Normally a month & year on there.
Its 571568AA/2006 according to the sticker
A 2006 Reflex with the 3 dash buttons?
They where phased out around September 2004 when the Reflex had the facelift & other technical changes.
I have to ask, what's the serial number of this truck?
That worked :)
The truck is now displaying the correct time.
Thanks for that!
By the way, I did find a German company who are selling Can Key's for these BT trucks. I don't think it's of much use to me as I wouldn't know how to use it (I've got no manuals and all that) but it might be interesting for those who would want to change things or check things on their trucks.
Yes, your truck is an older versin. Try this; with truck swicht on press and hold I botton then hour will flash, use II and III bottons to increase or decrease the value and I botton to pass from hours to minutes.
Regards
Tried setting the clock without success.
Nothing changes when I hold the direction indicator. The only thing which changes the startup sequence on the dash is when I hold the I button (there's button's I II and III on the dash).
However, the mode it gets into shows all sorts of values which are numbered.
I can't find anything which is equal to the hour or minute setting of the clock at the moment I do that.
Is there different versions?
Hi
To set the clock:
1) Truck switched OFF.
2) Press & hold the direction switch towards the forks.
3) Turn the truck ON & watch the dash display, when it shows Cl release the direction switch.
4) Use the LIFT joystick to change the hours, then use the direction switch to swop to minutes, use the lift joystick again to change the minutes.
5) Turn truck OFF & time will be set.
It sounds like the weight function needs to be recalibrated, you can only do this with a BT CAN service key plus a test weight you know the weight of.
The roof display for height counter only normally works ( displays something ) once the fork carriage is in the main lift, they don't normally work in the freelift area.
Truck would need a height counter pulley on the mast to work this display, it's at the top of mast with a thin metal cable running down the middle to the bottom.
