Raymond 20 R30TT:
Aux sytem failure

Hi,
Im having a problem with the reacch tilt and side shift on an EASI-R30TT The auxiluaries will only move a short distance when operated approx 3 inches the the switches have to be released and pressed again.
Hydraulic pressure in aux lines falls below 120lbs,
I can here the solenoid valves operate onreach tilt and side shift, and the pump is running.
have checked the header cable for continuity and it was ok,
Have checked all solenoids and valves on main lift and aux valve block by substitution by swopping of known good truck and they have proved to be ok
Im beginning to think this is not a hyd problem but a card failure.
Has anybody got some idea were I should be looking for this problem.

Regards titus

Glad to hear ya'll fixed it. Didn't even think of the Line Filter Fuse block. You usually don't have a problem with that unless you have a bad battery or a direct short in the system.

Hi, JonG and JoeD,

I would like to thank you both for your input on this problem, I would also like to thank my work colleagues
Malcome Maxwell who I liken to brains out of international rescue, and David Zigsworth affectionatly known as Zggy.
First refferring to Joes notes we started with Joes notes and systamatically changed every board on the truck, with no avail to solving the problem, I was beginning to dispare but then rememebered Jon G notes Refferring to a module with slow blow fuses near the joy stick but all I could see there was a module called a voltage filter unit
possible used to smooth the D.C. feeds to theC.P.U.
upon closer inspection I found it housed a slow blown fuse. which was blown, yes we had found something.
Further inspection showed us that the three wires to the module had been put on the wrong terminals, ie, pos wire on neg terminal, neg wire on pos terminal, transposing the wires fitting a new fuse and the problem was solved. The truck now worked correctly.
For the record this truck had been imported from Nth America and had only done 3.9 hrs. on the clock.
Once again many thanks for helping us solve this problem.
Regards Titus

Joe asked a very good question
Under teh top cove rin the area of the control handle/manifold is a block box, with slow blow fuses. Your problem is symptomatic of a blown fuse in these modules.
Also, If they are OK double check both the Over the mast cable, and ALSO the cable through the pentagraph/reach mechanism. There are covers behind the load back rest on the fork assy and at the mast to check continuity.

This sounds like a control problem vs a hydraulic problem
Good Luck, and let us know what you find

Ok, the top card is your system card. There is a rectangular board piggy-backed onto the face of the card. That is your VFC. Below the VFC the should be 2 small cards plugged in that are sticking straight out at you. If you look on top of these cards, one will have 5 little transistors and the other will have 8. These are called CD5 and CD8 as they are coil drivers. I beleive it's CD8 that controls your aux functions. Try swapping that first.

Hi Joe,
When cover removed there is what I would call a large mother board similar to what you would find in your computor, with a few other boards slotted into it,

When you pull the cover off to the right of the operator's compartment, is there a series of cards or is it just a black box?

Hi Jon G,
My listing says this is an EASI-R30TT
S.No ES-09-16873
I have come to the conclusion this may be a system failure possibly a specific card or module that handles the auxilaries such as reach tilt and side shift,
Not being familiar with this make of truck Ive been on a steep learning curve, and i have proved to my satisfaction that the hydraulic components are ok having substituting tthem on to a known good truck. the only thing i have not had my mits into is the electronics, but I think I will have to try swopping a few boards around,

120lbs??? Sounds like your aux pump is bypassing internally when you get back pressure from the cylinders. Try swapping the aux. pump.

IS this an Easi truck or a model 20?
Your write up makes me think its a EASi truck. Could you please post the serial # and double check the model #
