Discussion:
Affordable parts

Every time I need to repair one of our machines or replace a part I can't find anywhere to get them for a reasonable cost. I'm really tired of paying a fortune and blowing my budget instead of being able to add some new things I'd like my people to have. For example right now I need a 1007919-001 Console Assembly Cover, and the cheapest I've found it is over $700. Surely someone is selling parts more reasonably than that, or there's a good consistent source for used parts or something. Can anyone provide any answers. Feel free to do it privately if that's more appropriate for you. Thank you for your help.

A buddy of mine works at a plastic molding factory that makes one of the Raymond covers (not the one you need). They sell them to Raymond fairly reasonably and then the price goes through the roof to the consumer.

The heavy equipment manufacturers have had the consumer over a barrel for many years when it comes to parts. While I have not always been a big supporter of e-commerce in the way it steam rolls local small businesses, I welcome ebay, amazon and others in taking hvy equip manufacturers down a peg or two.

Stam and Swoop thanks for taking the time to reply. I was afraid that was the answer but I was grasping at straws I guess.

unfortunately this is the norm these days, there's no regulation on free market pricing so prices are not regulated. Product is being sold at whatever the market will bear and as long as people buy, they will sell at whatever price they wish. AND if you pay attention to the overall market for everything it ALL is escalating at alarming rates! (remember today's business model for big corporations is to show profits and expand consistently, this being in the forefront of all other goals they want to achieve).
Sadly this is the way of the world these days, the competition between corporations is fierce and WE, (the consumer), are caught in the crossfire.

And for this instance, your wanting a cosmetic part which is an uncommon replacement part. Parts that do not move frequently often are priced higher. (backwards thinking imo but it is what it is).

If it is a hard part like a starter, alternator, battery, relay, fuse or other more commonly replaced parts they can price them lower because they mass produce these knowing they will fail and therefore can price them lower. AND... the aftermarket can provide an alternate parts source in an aftermarket venue to offset the factory pricing for oem parts.
Parts like console covers and other plastic parts that are not more commonly replaced are usually not manufactured in the aftermarket because there's not enough money in it, and that basically explains that.

No way around it since the toyota takeover pricing has gone way up.

YouTube some plastic repair videos and you'll save the money if you can fix what you have.
As far as the rest of the parts you can only go so far with a rework station for cards and such.
There are some aftermarket parts for these trucks but sometimes they cost more than dealer as they buy from dealer then sell to you.
