2004 GC25K Hard start and triangle warning light on intermittantly

2004 Cat GC25K Ser#AT82E00341 5000#
Wont usually start unless i give it a little throttle. Also if driving and gas pedal is released almost stalls. Intermittantly the Triangular warning light comes on. Does anyone have info on how to retrieve codes and possible ideas ? Otherwise machine runs good and always starts as long as i give it some throttle. Im wondering if throttle plate maybe gummed up or if i have to adjust the throttle plates? If so do i need a Cat scantool? I have a Snap on OBDII Scantool but not sure if i could use it or where i could find a plug to use it with.?
I am an Automotive Tech but am starting to see a few lift trucks.
Any help would be appreciated

first off try cleaning the mixer body using a good carb cleaner, they do get gummed up on the inside and this does cause alot of "runtime" issues such as idle and intermittant warning light.

secondly, there are only 2 ways to access the computer on this model truck, 1) use the pc version software and special cable cat offers to diagnose the pre-tier1 and tier1 trucks with the CARB compliant systems.
2) the handheld HD1 diagnostic monitor

OBDII is useless in this case.

Fact of the week
The origin of "love" as the score zero in tennis is debated, but two main theories prevail. One suggests it's derived from the French word "l'oeuf" (egg) which resembles the shape of the number zero. The other proposes it's related to the Dutch word "lof" meaning "honour" as players might be playing for honour when scoreless.
