1995 Clark C500-S80Q -- S/N 0685-0121-7570

Can someone help with explaining what the above Model and S/N mean to me? I'm new to the forklift world and just became the new owner of the above truck. I'm also looking for a repair manual for this specific truck if there is such a thing.

Going thru the truck I've notice several issues that will need repair and hope the forum members can assist in my to-be long list of questions....many will probably be dumb.

Thank you in advance.

I was incorrect. They redesigned the mainline truck in the late 90s not the late 80s. You have one of the last C500s. It's hard to tell on the hours, some trucks are used up in 1500 hours, others are still good at 15,000. TVH parts has a good selection of parts for this series of truck. If you are a dealer you can get a log in. They have some service info also. If you want a service and or parts manual you will need to contact your local Clark dealer.

Wow some good info there. You sure know these trucks. The date stamped on the spec plate 9/23/95. Hour meter shows about 1370 hours. Can I assume the truck is over 10000 hours? It doesn't look really beat up....but definitely used.

Can you steer me into were I can find out more info online on this truck? Things like what engine it has, maintenance schedule, and a good source for parts. It starts and idle rough but seems to smooth out better when hot. Never shuts off during use but the rough idle may need attention. The shop that looked at it last before I bought it states a couple valves were sticking. I will need to replace some electrical wiring as well.

The C500 series was Clarks mainline truck for many years. They had their quirks but all in all a very tough truck. When these trucks were built Clark had over 30% market share. Clark redesigned their mainline trucks in the late 80s. The new trucks were G series trucks. Very few parts would interchange. The boxcar trucks have a special counterweight, it is taller to decrease the turning radius so the truck could be used to load boxcars. The rest of the truck should be the same as a basic truck.

Much appreciate that info BREWSKI. The fact that it is obsolete kind of worries me. Do you know if these were problematic models or Clark just changed their alpha numeric model names? Here is a dumb question....what is a boxcar special? Is the chassis or seating area somehow different on this Q model? Thank you.

The C500 family is obsolete. The S80Q indicates a short wheel base cushion tire #8000 base capacity, Q indicates it is a boxcar special. 0685 indicates it is in the #6000 to #8500 range. 0121 is the build number, this was the 121st truck in Lot number 7570.
