International Freight Week

United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi - 23-25 November 2008
The United Arab Emirates, in a bid to secure long-term sustainable economic growth, is diversifying its focus on four key areas: Oil & Gas, Tourism, Finance & Banking and Trade & Logistics. Middle East economies could save up to US$74 billion by changing the way global logistics are managed.

The Middle East is ideally placed as a key logistics hub. Investment projects are underway to deliver efficient transport and logistics infrastructures. Recent reports suggest that the Middle East will experience significant development throughout the transport and logistics industry in the immediate term.

International Freight Week is the region's only event covering the entire transport and logistics industry.

Fact of the week
Bluetooth is named after the 10th-century Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, who united warring tribes in Denmark and Norway. In 1997, Jim Kardach from Intel gave the name to the technology because of its ability to unite different communication protocols, just as Harald united various tribes.
