Safety in Action Conference

Australia, Melbourne - October 26-27, 2022
The Safety in Action Conference returns to Melbourne for 2022, taking place at the Rendezvous Hotel on the 26-27 October. Safety in Action is one of the leading workplace health and safety events in Australia, providing the opportunity to network and gain industry contacts across two full days.

The past few years have initiated rapid change to Workplace Safety. Mental health at work has never been so visible and regulations on psychosocial hazards are now included in Safe Work Australia's model work health and safety laws. With this, comes greater responsibility for the employer and the need to understand how psychosocial risks can be managed. Psychological injuries are the costliest of workplace injuries with employees more likely to have a prolonged absence from work. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from regulators and lawyers of their obligations and from experts on topics such as mental health leadership, inclusive work culture and managing psychological injuries.

Physical safety remains a constant consideration for all workplaces. Long term effects of hazardous materials, disability management and emerging Industrial Manslaughter laws remain key areas of concern for workplace safety. Hear from top safety professionals on how to keep your businesses up to date. This includes how to successfully migrate from AS/NZS 4801 to ISO 45001:2018, updates to Industrial Manslaughter laws and managing the risk of hazardous materials.

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
