CeMAT RUSSIA 2013

Russia, Moscow - September 24th - 27th 2013
CeMAT RUSSIA 2012 impressed exhibitors and visitors alike with an exciting display of innovative products and solution-oriented systems, backed by a series of informative lectures entitled "Effective intralogistics for companies - practical examples".
The importance of reliable internal logistics as a necessary condition for a functioning distribution network is becoming increasingly apparent. For Russian companies in industry and commerce the integration of intralogistics systems poses a complex challenge. They looked to CeMAT RUSSIA not only as a showcase for the appropriate products, but also as a source of concrete solutions to logistical problems. The majority of the 5,200 plus trade visitors at CeMAT RUSSIA therefore came with the express aim of finding specific solutions or placing orders. "This was the first time that we had exhibited at CeMAT RUSSIA and in terms of the calibre of the visitors and the seriousness of the business talks held, it exceeded our expectations. We were able to make important inroads with respect to numerous new and concrete investment projects", says Wolfgang Albrecht, managing director of PSI Logistics GmbH, Hamburg.
Practical experience gathered from integrated logistics projects in Russia was conveyed to visitors in a series of lectures entitled "Effective intralogistics for companies - practical examples", which was organized by the trade journal f+h at the Russian-German Industry Forum. At this event, which augmented the CeMAT program, numerous speakers provided insights into the various projects and the gains in efficiency and cost-effectiveness derived from the new systems and solutions employed by the respective companies. The keen interest in these lectures confirmed that there is considerable demand for information on the role of intralogistics in making processes across the added-value chain more efficient and cost-effective.
As one of the major world economies, Russia has continued to produce respectable growth rates, even in the midst of the current debt crisis. The country's energy industry, along with other industrial segments, has been primarily responsible for this trend and has played a major role in contributing to economic growth and the prosperity of the Russian people. At the same time, however, this implies the need within industry and trade to ensure the availability of integrated intralogistics systems, as well as logistical services in order to meet customer/supplier requirements and satisfy growing consumer demand. According to the Intesco Research Group the Russian logistics services market grew by 25 percent in 2010 and also saw double digit growth in 2011. Similarly strong growth is expected in the current year. Growth forecasts of this dimension promise companies in the intralogistics sector major market opportunities and underline the potential for developing efficient supply chains. Clearly, external logistics comprising transport and distribution infrastructures also need to be integrated with other supply chains and internal integrated logistical systems. Without efficient equipment, systems and plant it would not be possible to establish efficient internal logistics or link business to business with distribution chains. In this context, user companies need efficient logistical processes in order to profit from global economic integration. Making the most of the globalized market demands an understanding of the strategies, concepts, technologies and possibilities of intralogistics. In September this year, CeMAT RUSSIA helped companies from Russia and Eastern Europe gain these necessary insights.
The "Industrial Trade Fair Moscow" (ITFM) from 25-28 September 2012 was the umbrella name under which CeMAT RUSSIA took place in conjunction with MDA RUSSIA, Industrial Automation RUSSIA and Surface RUSSIA. These four trade fairs presented technological solutions in the fields of power transmission and control technology, industrial automation, surface treatment technology and intralogistics. These events were organized by OOO Deutsche Messe RUS, Moscow, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, and the ITE Group Plc., a British trade fair organizer with branches in eleven countries. This company organizes 50 exhibitions and conferences a year in Russia alone.

Fact of the week
Bluetooth is named after the 10th-century Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, who united warring tribes in Denmark and Norway. In 1997, Jim Kardach from Intel gave the name to the technology because of its ability to unite different communication protocols, just as Harald united various tribes.
