A forklift driver who was trapped inside a commercial freezer for around 30 minutes last Saturday has died in hospital.

According to a report by the ABC, the 23-year-old man was operating a forklift alone when it is believed to have tipped over, trapping him against shelves inside the fridge.

Workers found him around half an hour later and he was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but died the following day.

WorkCover has been informed, and police say an investigation will now take place.
