Two new Liebherr ship-to-shore (STS) cranes have been delivered to Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) as part of its USD500 million expansion designed to increase capacity and throughput at the terminal.
The two STS cranes have an outreach of 226 ft (69 m) with a lift height of 172 ft (53 m) and feature electronic anti-sway and laser anti-collision systems for safety and efficient operation.
PNCT president James Pelliccio says of the purchase: “Liebherr has consistently provided us with reliable and high-performance cranes”.
“These new additions not only reinforce our capabilities but also positions us to handle the growing demands of global trade with confidence,” he continues.
“Our strategy is focused on creating a modern, efficient terminal, and these cranes are a pivotal part of that transformation. Liebherr’s crane design plays an essential role in our journey to becoming one of the most advanced ports on the East Coast.”
Liebherr Container Cranes is a part of Switzerland-headquartered Liebherr Group which consists of more than 150 companies with 50,000 staff and reported 2023 revenue of EUR14 billion (USD14.67 billion).
