Liebherr’s Container Cranes is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the rollout of an “enhanced” rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes portfolio which includes five new models.

The range includes electric and hybrid models with a variable speed generator option.

The new five base models include the fully electric RTG-CB with a continuous power supply, requiring fixed conductor bar infrastructure and the electric ERTG-CRD with a flexible power feed.

Also included in the lineup is the hybrid RTG-HC utilising super-capacitors for energy recovery in combination with a smaller diesel generator; the RTG-HB diesel-electric hybrid RTG utilising battery energy storage and the diesel RTG-VSG.

Liebherr Container Cranes MD-Engineering, Charlie McCarthy, says the range allows customers to “advance their environmental ambitions and plan for a net zero future”.

Liebherr says its eight-rope reeving system has been central to its success from the outset and is something which “remains central to the [Liebherr] RTG.”
