Terex will manufacture CVS Ferrari Terminal and RoRo Tractors. |
Manitex International has entered into an agreement with Terex Port Solutions under which Manitex has transferred to TPS the intellectual property and manufacturing rights of the Terminal Tractor and RoRo Tractor Product Lines of its wholly owned CVS Ferrari operation.
The contract includes a private labelling agreement under which the Terminal and RoRo Tractors originally developed by CVS Ferrari will still be available for sale to CVS Ferrari and its distribution organisation around the world.
Stefano Mercati, general manager of CVS Ferrari, says the move follows the need for larger manufacturing volumes and economies of scale benefits that manufacturing of the tractor product line requires in order to stay competitive.
The transfer of production of the range to Terex Port Solutions will free needed production space at the CVS Ferrari Roveleto di Cadeo factory to accommodate an increase in production capacity of the reach stackers and lift trucks made by the Italian division of Manitex International.
CVS Ferrari will continue to support its existing Terminal and RoRo Tractors customers as well as the new CVS Ferrari-customised and -branded units through its own parts and service organisation.
US-based Manitex acquired CVS in 2011.
