Unionised delivery drivers picketed an Amazon warehouse in Los Angeles on Prime Day as part of ongoing industrial action that began on June 24.
In a statement, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said that a contract negotiated in April between Amazon delivery service partner Battle-tested Strategies and its newly unionised employees was not honoured by Amazon.
The Teamsters say the 84 employees involved in the contract negotiations were the first union of Amazon drivers in the United States.
The Prime Day picket at the DJT6 warehouse in Riverside was the latest in a series of protests at 19 Amazon warehouses, including in New Jersey, Connecticut, Michigan, Georgia and Massachusetts.
The Teamsters say the strike will continue “until Amazon remedies all of its unfair labour practices”.
AP reports Amazon says it terminated its contract with Battle Tested Strategies before its workers unionised.
The report also says Amazon accuses the Teamsters of spreading “a false narrative”.
