The EU137 million project (USD150.5 million) project will triple Swiss Post’s storage capacity for retail, hospital logistics and hazardous materials.
The 57,000 sqm logistics centre, the second joint automation project in Villmergen for Swiss Post and Swisslog, is scheduled to go into operation in 2025.
It will include a high-bay warehouse with 23,000 pallet spaces, a medium parts warehouse with 20,000 trays and an AutoStore system with a capacity of 125,000 bins for small parts. It will also use Swisslog’s SynQ materials flow control system.
Swiss Post head of freight logistics Roland Heizmann says: "Swisslog convinced us with its logistical and technical solutions to jointly create the warehouse of the future.
