In today's fast-paced and ever-changing world, warehouses and distribution centres are constantly striving to improve efficiency and streamline their operations. One of the biggest challenges that they face is managing the flow of goods through their facilities. With high turnover rates and constantly changing inventory, it can be difficult to keep track of everything that is moving through the warehouse.

Intermodalics is the provider of the imSight product, which is a data collection and analysis tool designed specifically for warehouse operations. With a focus on automation and data-driven insights, Intermodalics helps their customers streamline their operations and achieve their business objectives.

Our solution is designed to improve the efficiency of forklifts in warehouses of all sizes, using forklifts of many different brands. With the imSight product, you can get a better handle on your warehouse operations, streamline your processes, and improve your bottom line.

imSight is designed to work in three different scenarios, depending on the needs of the user. The data collection layer is called imSight, which captures data from various sources, including an onboard computer, cameras, and sensors mounted on the forks and the barcode reader of the driver.

The onboard computer is accessible from your existing truck terminal screen, making it easy to use and integrate with your existing systems. The rooftop camera attached to the forklift helps tracking the location of the forklift within the warehouse, much like a GPS system tracks your location outdoors.

The imSight server then combines the location data of the forklift truck with the barcode scans and payload data to offer 3 different warehouse operation scenarios:

Scenario 1 - is the simplest. The platform acts as an indoor telematics solution, showing you which drivers and trucks are working at what times, in which location. It reveals bottlenecks or underutilised spaces with simple heatmaps and spaghetti diagrams. Armed with this information, you’ll be able to optimise your warehouse layout, improve your processes, and reduce inefficiencies.

Scenario 2 - involves integrating the driver's barcode reading to the platform. With this integration, every barcode read (both of location codes and product codes) can now be pinpointed on a map of the warehouse. This allows for automated checks and manual lookups where a barcode was last seen or how it has travelled through the warehouse. This incredibly useful information helps you track inventory, locate lost items, and improve your overall inventory management.

Scenario 3 - takes things a step further by using a smart attachment that measures the pickup and drop-off of its payload. With this attachment, you can track the payload until the drop-off point and then identify it when it's picked up by the next truck. This allows the imSight platform to act as a checker (a green-light for the operator confirming that they have picked up the right payload) or as a tracker (recording where a driver puts down the payload). The warehouse or yard management system has quick access to this information, eliminating the need for manual inventory counts and the various barcode scans throughout the process, saving you time and money.
