New multipurpose cargo terminal to be built in Egypt.Heavy-duty equipment manufacturer, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries is preparing to deliver three new Panamax cranes to AD Ports Group’s new multipurpose cargo terminal in Safaga, Egypt.
AD Ports Group is an integrated trade, logistics and transport enabler. Having signed a 30-year concession agreement with the Red Sea Ports Authority (RSPA) in 2023, the Group is currently developing – and will eventually operate – the multi-purpose terminal in Safaga Port.
In addition to the three Panamax cranes, AD Ports Group intends to also purchase three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, and six hybrid rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for inclusion in the project.
The project will feature a 48,000 sqm concrete apron, an 80,354 sqm container terminal with supporting infrastructure, and approximately 66,360 sqm for general cargo and break-bulk operations.
“Noatum Ports - Safaga Terminal will support Egypt’s economic development with creation of the Red Sea region’s most modern, efficient terminal facility,” says Ahmed Al Mutawa, AD Ports group regional CEO.
“The terminal will vastly improve the area’s connectivity and lower costs for traders and businesses.”
