Scott Technology has acquired the assets and intellectual property of Transbotics, a US-based AGV manufacturer headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"This strategic acquisition will achieve our goal of building a complete end-to-end offering for the overall production process from raw material receipt to final distribution," says managing director Chris Hopkins.

The purchase comes in the wake of their April purchase of Belgian automation specialist Alvey Group. With operations in France, Czech Republic and the UK, Alvey specialises in palletising, conveying and warehouse automation.

Hopkins says the Alvey acquisition was the first step toward Scott's growth ambitions, "however, an AGV business such as Transbotics was also needed to complement these back-end logistics capabilities".

"The acquisition of Transbotics is consistent with Scotts's acquisition strategy of
accelerating market access, while providing us with skills and technologies faster and at a lower cost than doing it ourselves," he adds.

This latest transaction adds 30 team members to Scott's global workforce of over 700.

The New Zealand company has production bases in the United States, China, Australia, Germany and New Zealand and customers in 75 countries.
