The ICHCA International office has received a report on the failure of a boom hoist gearbox on a Morris container crane that may be due to a design fault for all Morris container cranes dating from 1986 onwards.

No one was injured and no property damaged as the fault was discovered in time.

Morris Cranes no longer exists so no equipment alerts will be issued by the company.

Anyone who owns or operates Morris cranes is urged to contact the ICHCA office, which will supply details of a contact person who can provide preventive measures, testing and technical engineering information related to the failure.
