Albion Stone has ordered a Doosan high-capacity telehandler from Rushlift. |
Rushlift has secured a contract to supply the UK's leading mine operator Albion Stone with a state-of-the-art, high-capacity telehandler.
The new Doosan DT160 telehandler will be based in Jordans Mine in Portland. It will extract stone from the underground mining operation located beneath the local cricket club's pitch.
Albion Stone first saw the 16 T machine at the IMHX expo in Birmingham. The telehandler, which can operate with forks or a bucket, is fitted with special safety features including an in-built fire suppression system for the engine and a catalytic converter to process exhaust gases.
Dan White, Albion Stone's engineering manager, was impressed with the machine from the start and realised its versatility was suitable for mining requirements.
"We were particularly impressed with the telehandler's stability and all-round visibility. We are able to work more efficiently, faster and continue to provide our customers with the high-quality products and service that make us the UK's leading Portland Stone mine operator."
Rushlift's Andrew Gazzard says the independent forklift dealer recognised Albion Stone's "specific need that [its] current products were not providing".
"They wanted a product that was strong, tough and reliable and suitable for the particular demands of their environment. Because of its four-wheel steering and excellent all-round visibility and toughness, the DT160 was an excellent choice, ideally suited to working in an underground operation."
The value of the contact is confidential.
