Komatsu forklift working at foundating engineering and precast concrete company Roger Bullivant Ltd. |
Komatsu Forklift distributor Windsor Komatsu & Access has secured an order for 12 forklifts from the UK's largest foundation engineering and piling company, Roger Bullivant Ltd (RBL).
RBL has been a customer of UK-based Windsor for 14 years. It started with the supply of two 4 tonne diesel forklifts for loading precast concrete and has grown with the expansion of RBL's business.
As RBL's sole materials handling partner, Windsor now leases the company 40 forklifts and provides a dedicated engineer to visit the site each morning. The forklifts on site range from 2.5 tonne to 6 tonne models.
The 3 tonne forklifts from the Komatsu BX 50 range are used for stacking moulds and beams. According to Komatsu, the BX 50 offers the benefits of a tandem hydraulic pump which gives the fastest lifting speed when idling. This can negate the need for high revving of the engine when stacking and cut fuel use and emissions. Some of the 4 tonne forklifts are used for loading. Windsor has fitted extra-wide sideshifts to ensure safe handling of piles and beams.
Komatsu Division's Angela Napoli says the general build and strength of the forklifts, which have heavy duty air cleaners and large capacity radiators, make them suitable for the arduous conditions of the harsh concrete environment.
The latest order worth GBP500,000 (USD999,700) includes forklifts for RBL's wholly owned subsidiary, Buchan Concrete Solutions Ltd.
