Atlanta Forklifts Inc of Scottdale, Georgia has placed a series of purchase orders for PowerFleet wireless vehicle management systems (VMS) from ID Systems Inc for installation on a fleet of forklift trucks for a leading US specialty retailer.
After implementation, the retailer will have deployed PowerFleet devices on forklifts in 18 retail and distribution sites, with equipment in another 17 sites scheduled for deployment over 12 months. Terms were not disclosed.
"These orders are significant on several levels," says Kenneth Ehrman, chairman and chief executive officer of Woodcliff Lake-based ID Systems. "First, this is another example of a business rolling out VMS across its enterprise, based on compelling quantitative and qualitative value. Second, these orders reflect the growth in importance of ID Systems' strategic partnerships with forklift dealers. Finally, our cloud-hosted solution represents a rapidly growing trend of deploying VMS as a service with lower costs and fewer administrative duties for the customer."
The orders continue ID Systems' recent
success in deploying its wireless VMS machine-to-machine solution for another retailer, a tyre manufacturer, a packaged goods firm and a heavy equipment maker.
