Since 2012 Stan Robinson (Stafford) Ltd has operated a 12,500 pallet warehouse dispatching over 5,000 orders per month on behalf of Bostik UK.
The site operates a shift system and employs over 60 staff. It is lower tier COMAH due to the nature of some of the products manufactured and sold by Bostik, including aerosols and superglues.
As such, ATEX rated equipment is used including reach trucks, LLOPs and powered pallet trucks.
Prior to replacing the fleet of Toyota trucks, consideration was given to the ATEX safety system that would be both reliable and most cost effective. Lead time from order placement to actual delivery was also a key factor.
After a great deal of consideration, which included reliability, service response and the cost of replacement gas bottles, the decision was taken by Toyota (Bostik pan-European preferred supplier) to use the
Miretti Passive system.
The Passive system allows saving running cost compared to the previous active system, as no gas bottles or sensing heads replacement are required. With the removal of the gas bottles we were also able to reduce the environmental impact. (For more information about Ex Passive Conversion

In Total 4 RRE 200 reach trucks, 8 OSE Low Level order pickers, 1 LWE200, 1 LPE200 and 1 CBE 8FBET18 were supplied with Miretti Passive system. After 12 months use, a detailed review was undertaken to monitor if the expected benefits had materialised.
"We are very happy to say that they were all achieved," stated
Mark Owen, Logistic Manager for Stan Robinson.
"We have had no downtime and the system has proved entirely reliable. When one emergency stop button was damaged it was replaced within 24 hours."
"Always consider that the Atex Directive is related to equipment protection. The UK & IR markets are embracing and understanding more and more the potential and reliability of the Passive system:"
Enrico Colombo, Sales Director
Miretti UK Ltd.
As direct result of this feedback another order for the ongoing replacement of a further two Toyota Reach trucks has been placed with Miretti, which are due for delivery before the end of the year.
