Derek Jackson

A forklift travelling down Scottsdale Road in the early morning of 3 July caught the attention of a Scottsdale police officer.

The officer reports that the driver, Derek Jackson, 33, appeared to be disoriented, seemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and could not explain why he was driving the forklift at that hour. Jackson told police he was on his way home from a party.

Phoenix, Arizona office of equipment owner United Rentals Inc confirmed that Jackson had no connection with the company or a Fashion Square Mall construction project from which the forklift was stolen. "Nobody should be driving it at this time of night," United Rentals told police.

Scottsdale police arrested Jackson for theft of the forklift and charges relating to driving under the influence of alcohol.
