Peacock Bros. has won the "Technology Application" category at the recent 2008 Logistics Mercury Awards. It was awarded for their innovative Indoor Vehicle Positioning System which incorporated RFID forklift mounted technology and real-time warehouse management.

The award winning technology application resulted in a superior solution that showed innovation and dedication to the customer's requirements. It demonstrated a highly creative application of technology in a supply chain context to leverage competitive advantage for the client. There were 7 award categories and a panel of judges consisting of 3 independent industry experts and the editor of Logistics magazine. The winners were presented with their awards at a gala evening event at the L'Aqua venue in Sydney.

Robert Deane, National Business Development Manager and Beat Ludi, Senior Project Manager for Peacock Bros. managed the technology development and installation at all three sites of New Zealand company Eastpack. Robert was in Sydney to receive the award and commented: "This is a welcome acknowledgement of the dedication and solution building efforts that Peacock Bros. applies for their customers, it is a fitting example as to why this year we are celebrating 120 years of continuous business success. We are very proud of achieving this anniversary."

Eastpack has praised the performance and improvements that this solution provided their operations, reporting that over 2 million more crates of fruit were handled within the first season and huge a return on investment in managing the perishable Kiwi fruit storage and distribution.

Robert will be hosting a series of presentations and seminars throughout 2009 on this solution, making it available for Australian businesses that want a distinct competitive edge in their warehouse operations for track and trace accountability.
