The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been alerted after a Winter Haven man died from injuries sustained in a forklift accident at his workplace.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Enrique Trevino, 41, saying he was driving a stand-up forklift at Huttig Building Products, when he became pinned between the forklift and metal shelving.

It's not yet known exactly how the incident occurred.

Paramedics were called and Trevino was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center by helicopter accompanied by his son, Enrique Trevino Jr., who worked with his father.

Trevino was taken in for surgery, but the medical team could not save him.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted, according to the Sheriff's Office.
