Omega Lift Manufacturing Inc. has been contracted to provide the Canadian Department of National Defence with rough terrain forklift units. The Omega Lift 50,000 lb. (at 48" load centre) militarized HERC Series units are scheduled for delivery to coincide with the delivery of Boeing C-17 Globemaster III transport planes by the Canadian Department of National Defence.

The C-17 Globemaster III transport planes will boost Canada's international presence, providing rapid strategic troop deployment and cargo transportation of oversized combat and support equipment, coast to coast anywhere around the globe.

Omega Lift's HERCs will be comissioned in support service roles around the globe most likely handling heavy shipping containers.

The Omega Lift HERCs are unique in that they are 4-wheel drive and have been specifically engineered and specifically built for military applications, boasting rugged solid steel construction, heavy-duty lift capacities of 50,000 lbs. to heights of 210" at 48" load centres, 10" side shift capabilities, nine degrees of frame leveling, and have fuel capacities to enable them to operate for 8 continuous hours.

The HERCs meet the stringent requirements of the military and were built to B56.6 Rough Terrain Standards meeting Type DS Safety Ratings. Omega Lift's on-site facility for testing its machines includes a performance course, gradeability slopes and tilt platform.

"Omega Lift's history with the Canadian Department of National Defence has given us a reputation that our rough terrain forklifts meet the rigorous requirements and tough on-the-ground realities of deployment in current global military field applications." states Nick Acocella, Omega Lift's Factory Sales Manager.

"Being awarded this contract speaks to the fact that our past contracts with the Canadian Department of National Defence continue to build confidence in our brand and on the reputation that our rough terrain forklifts are built to meet and exceed their required specifications.

It is the same reputation by which we have been long known in commercial/non-military applications", adds Nick Acocella
