The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is organising the 2011 Product Safety and Compliance Seminar on 2-4 May, followed by its annual Product Liability Seminar on 5 May in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Held at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort, the seminar is expected to refresh, reinforce and expand on key themes from the 2010 program. It includes sessions on training to help companies ensure their safety messages are having an impact.

The event will feature a half-day introductory session on the cornerstone of product safety. The next two days will offer 29 sessions across five different tracks focused on safety fundamentals, training, incident investigation, Tier 4 engine emission regulations, product feature decisions and other issues.

The AEM Product Liability Seminar, "More Lessons Learned in the Courtroom," brings together a group of experienced trial and corporate attorneys who will share real-life examples of important litigation issues in corporate witness and pre-trial preparation and in the courtroom, focusing on helping frontline litigation support personnel.

The opening keynote presenter for the product safety and compliance seminar, Adam Kopstein, manager of North American product safety and compliance for Volvo Cars of North America, will discuss design achievements to enhance safety. Tana Utley, chief technology officer and vice president of Caterpillar, will discuss customer value in a complex regulatory world in the closing presentation.

Another seminar feature is peer-to-peer roundtables for informal discussion with the expert presenters and best-practice information sharing with peers. Attendees can also view an exhibit area of product manuals, safety labels and support materials.

This seminar is designed specifically by and for manufacturers and company-designated service providers of agricultural, construction, forestry, mining and utility equipment.

Attendees participating in both events receive a liability seminar registration discount. AEM's educational programming offers Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). Complete seminar details and registration information are posted online in the "Education" section of the AEM website
