In modern production plants with a focus on lean manufacturing, tow tractors are taking over where moving material is required but no lifting. Tow tractors, also known as tuggers, are easier to operate than a lift truck and they can pull more than one load at a time on multiple carts. Moreover, in general the vehicle purchase costs are lower, and this also applies for operating costs.
Tow tractors often operate in combined traffic on highly different types of floors - from concrete to asphalt to coated floors. Special wheels are required to offer
safety and comfort for driver and load as well as
top performance. Traditionally, rubber was used. However, most rubber tyres are marking and the service life of non-marking rubber wheels is too short. Moreover, the steering effort required is quite high.
We have developed various
polyurethane compounds with
good damping values for operator comfort,
high load capacities and a
long service life: PEVOSOFT® (shore hardness 75° Shore A),
VULKOSOFT® (shore hardness 85° Shore A),
TRACTOPUR® (shore hardness 80° Shore A) and
TRACTOSOFT® (shore hardness 85° Shore A).
VULKOLLAN® (93° and 95° Shore A) and
TRACTOTHAN® (93° Shore A) wheels are available, too. Therefore, we can offer
customized solutions based on the load capacities and speeds required and the specific characteristics of the application.
