The General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently tendered for warehouse equipment for military use. Among the key factors considered in the tender process were security and reliability.

Military officials invited eight leading manufacturers of forklift to compete in the tender, with each potential supplier asked to demonstrate the capabilities of their products.

The forklifts were judged on appearance, engine power, travel speed and maneuverability in narrow aisles.

Nine Maximal forklift models were deemed to meet the customer's requirements and the company was appointed the preferred supplier for Military Equipment.

"Through this contest, Maximal showed the high quality of the products," according to a company official. "It was an opportunity for Maximal to be accepted by more purchasers."

The Chinese manufacturer also sees the contract as its way to "make a significant contribution to military modernisation in China".
