As a traction/Solar/UPS/ lead acid battery ages one or more individual cells become weaker and have low voltage. One key reason for this occurrence is the inability of a multi cell charger to charge each individual cell to the optimum level. When a battery (comprised of several cells) is being charged, the charger is monitoring the "Overall" voltage and when the charger "sees" correct terminal voltage it decides the charge is over.
Unfortunately some cells have a greater resistance to accepting a charge and so during charge the healthier cells will be overcharged while weaker cells are undercharged. Thus when the charger completes its cycle the weaker cells have not had sufficient time to get to a fully charged state. This failure of a cell to fully charge means a weak cell is repeatedly undercharged and cell voltage will continue to decline.
With the new CellSAVER these charge starved cells are able to be individually charged to recover "lost" voltage. To return the cell to good State of Health (SOH) this individual cell charging may have to be undertaken several times and is best undertaken in conjunction with a process to desulphate the cell. (See our BatterySAVER system). When you desulphate a cell AND charge the cell fully we find few low voltage cells actually need replacing!!

Adjustable Output. Cell capacity varies dramatically depending on the system design, working environment and potential A/hr load demand. The CellSAVER's adjustable output is to allow for customizing the charge for different capacity cells. Always consult the battery manufacturers specifications BEFORE undertaking any individual cell charging. Calculate and adjust CellSAVER amperage for a charge appropriate to the CELL size and capacity.
Over Voltage CellsSome cells go over voltage when charging due to high resistance to charge with severe sulphation and weak electrolyte. We find these can often be fixed to with the CellSAVER if you desulphated with the BatterySAVER for a few hours .... and then also simultaneously connect the CellSAVER to the weak cell. Over voltage cells generally respond quicker/better with the addition of 150-200ml of our CellFIX solution. If your desulphation process is working well the charge voltage should soon drop to normal level if the cell is going to "fix". If there is little or no voltage reduction in the first 30 to 45 minutes it is unlikely you will be able to fix the cell.
