RFID can be used with forklift trucks or other vehicles to detect the location of the truck, trigger a speed control system, or start a pedestrian warning device. But standard RFID involves complex installation and is prone to: interference, poor read distance and tuning problems when normal antennae are mounted in the narrow space under the truck. RealRFid offers two solutions to these typical problems: the MM series and the IRMA series.

The MM series antenna can be directly mounted to any surface, including steel. In our unique design, all energy in the antenna is directed down towards the transponder instead of upwards into the forklift.

Benefits of the MM series are:
  • tuning is virtually UNAFFECTED by forklift truck chassis

  • the damping effect of the steel chassis is avoided

  • interference from the forklift electrics is blocked

  • the antenna unit mounts in narrow mount space measuring 20mm

  • typical read distance is 0.5m with industry standard TIRIS reader

MM Series Specifications
  • Size: 350 x 270 x 20 (plus lead). Inductance value 27uH (TIRIS low frequency HDX standard), Q = 100

  • Patent applied for

  • strong moulded plastic construction

The IRMA series incorporates an antenna, reader and communication interface in the one module and uses RealRFId's mount-on-metal technology to maximize sensitivity in the narrow space under a forklift truck. Up to 0.7m read distance can be achieved at speeds of 15km/h due to the rapid read cycle. The metal chassis does not affect tuning or significantly lessen read distance. Installation is therefore greatly simplified and costs kept down.

IRMA Specifications
  • Size: 345 x 345 x 42 (plus lead). Operating voltage 12V - 24V at 12W.
  • Output comprises opto-isolated RS232 and opto-isolated output switch.
  • Compatible with TIRIS low frequency HDX transponders.
  • Customised response to certain transponder numbers
  • Strong moulded plastic construction.
