Motorists on a German highway were shocked when a truck spilt two tons of pigs' heads onto the road on the night before Halloween.

The incident happened after the truck turned off a highway in Herne, in the Ruhr region, police told the Associated Press.

Police said the door of the truck's trailer opened and the pigs' heads spilled out as the driver turned away from a traffic light.

The fire service used a forklift to load the heads back onto the trailer.
