Unionised staff at Amazon’s fulfillment warehouse in Coventry plan to strike for four days next month, including the Black Friday sales day, The Guardian reports.

The GMB Union, originally known as the Gas Workers and General Labourers Union, has organised the strike, which will involve more than 1,000 Amazon employees, for 7, 8 and 9 November and 24 November, Black Friday.

The walkout will go ahead despite Amazon this week announcing pay increases, which will bring the minimum starting pay for warehouse workers to GBP11.80 (USD14.50) an hour from GBP11 (USD13.52) an hour.

GMB organiser Rachel Fagan told the newspaper the latest planned strike plans would bring the total number of days lost to industrial action at Amazon’s Coventry warehouse to nearly 30.

The strike action was announced ahead of a Make Amazon Pay summit on 27 and 28 October convened by UNI Global Union, a federation of unions, and activists’ alliance Progressive International.
