HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai at the Port of Hamburg has ordered 14 Kalmar Edrive Esc three-high straddle carriers.
HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) GmbH, Hamburg, has ordered 14 Kalmar Edrive Esc three-high straddle carriers and Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH has ordered 10.

It is the first time the Port of Hamburg terminals have ordered 7th generation electrical winch machines.

The straddle carriers, which have electrical drive systems, will be equipped with right hand side mounted front cabins and noise isolation features to assist operators in their work.

Kalmar straddle carriers vice president Ikka Annala said the machines, equipped with AC drives, met the strictest environmental standards.

"We are proud to play a part in Hamburg's continued growth," Annala said. "As a key port for Chinese imports to northern Europe and a major gateway to the Baltic states, the port is booming and, as such, terminal operators are under pressure to expand handling capabilities over the coming years."
