Semax will elevate its planned growth journey to another level at the Logimat international trade fair in late May and early June.

“We have a strong demand for our forklifts and will grow throughout Europe in the next few years. Within two years, we’ll double our production capacity,” says the company’s CEO, Tobias Ingemarsson.

There’s feverish activity at Semax’s facility in Storebro, Sweden, where one of the industry’s ‘top forklifts’ has been developed and become a favourite with customers. Now, the strategy is to significantly increase the company’s presence in Europe and to expand the factory to be able to meet demand.

Semax will be attending the Logimat logistics and material management fair, which will be held in Stuttgart, Germany between 31 May and 2 June. Ingemarsson says that Semax’s major investment starts with the company’s participation at the fair.

“We’ll have a booth with technicians, salespeople, and two of our forklifts available to view. The company is in a very interesting phase right now. Our owners have given the go-ahead for an ambitious growth strategy that we’re now embarking on.”

One of the steps is to expand our European network with more agents and service partners. At the same time, a new development and skills centre will be built in the university city of Växjö to increase innovation capacity for the development of future forklifts. It’s also clear that Semax is investing in its facility in Storebro in order to double its production capacity within two years.

“Although we have a strong and attractive forklift programme, since we’ve been a relatively small company, we simply haven’t had the opportunity to manufacture forklifts to keep up with demand. We’ll try to change that and it feels incredibly exciting to grow and become more ambitious,” says Ingemarsson.

Semax’s strong success is based on the 40-year innovation of a forklift with the mast located behind the cab, not at the front, which is the traditional design. The new design entails a number of advantages with, above all, better visibility for the driver. The forklifts also have smaller external dimensions compared to the conventional ones, which offers great advantages when working in environments with limited space.

To further facilitate loading and unloading with the highest precision, Semax’s forklifts are also equipped with an in-built extension. Complemented by a special fork carriage, it’s also possible to tilt a paper reel 90 degrees forward, for example.

“After almost four decades in the industry, Semax has become known as a ‘precision forklift’, which is something also noticed by our customers. The vast majority of Semax’s forklifts are sold to the paper and metal industry. The value of goods is extremely high and reduced damage to loads is positive for our customers’ profitability,” concludes Ingemarsson.

FACTS | Semax Material Handling AB

Semax’s forklift programme offers load capacities from 6,000 kg up to 25 tonnes. The forklifts can be supplied as either electric or diesel driven.

Semax was founded in 1986 and is based on an innovation that has created a forklift for precision operation. That’s why Semax’s forklifts have become popular in environments (such as the paper and metal industry) where goods of high value are handled and where the emphasis is on ensuring safe loading and unloading.

Semax has been part of the Inev Group for the past three years, with sales of SEK 1.3 billion.
