Barloworld Internal Transport's good service set it apart from rivals for a 22 Hyster forklift delivery to DAF Trucks.

DAF Trucks manager Frank De Haas said the order for 22 electric and LPG counterbalanced forklifts, with lift capacities ranging from 2.5 tons to 4 tons, was made after several lease contracts ended.

"I would not say there are no differences between the various products and brands on the market but, in general, all trucks look fairly similar to one another," De Haas said.

"For us, therefore, the decisive factor in making our choice is quality of service. Because we have had such a close working relationship over such a long period of time, Barloworld Internal Transport knows exactly what is going on here and what needs to happen.

"We have excellent contacts, dedicated Barloworld mechanics, they supply excellent trucks and we are doing good business together," he said.

The Hyster forklifts will be used in the press hall and the engine factory for assembly and waste disposal. Most of the forklifts were delivered with Griptech sideshifters and fork-adjusters.

Barloworld has been supplying forklifts to DAF Trucks since 1993.
