In order to help prevent damage to pallets and goods,
Meijer Handling Solutions has developed a sensor that displays the horizontal position of the load. Once the sensor is installed and the forklift truck picks up the load, the system will detect any tilting of the load relative to the floor by means of deflection of the forks and mast, as well as tyre deformation.
A load that is not horizontal can become unstable, leading to potentially hazardous consequences.
The tilt indicator on the forklift truck mast/carriage usually does not measure the deflection of the forks. This means that when a load is placed on the forks, the indicator does not register any bending of the forks or that the load is tilted forwards; instead, it still shows that the forks are in a horizontal position. By contrast, the
KOOI® Deflection System informs the driver about the number of degrees by which the mast should be compensated in order to keep the load on the forks in a horizontal position.
The KOOI
® Deflection System is a small sensor mounted entirely inside the nose of the telescopic forks. Because it is completely enclosed in the front of the
KOOI® ReachForks, the sensor is protected from damage and shows the maximum deflection at the tip of the forks. The sensor works wirelessly via Bluetooth
® and can be replaced easily if necessary. It can also be integrated into standard forklift truck forks, but this has to be done on a case-by-case basis, as the position and strength have to be calculated.
