Greencarrier buys Transpoint International
Gothenberg, SwedenGreencarrier Freight Services has acquired the road logistics business operations in the Baltics and the CEE countries from VR Group's subsidiary, Transpoint International.
"Transpoint International (FI) is a top player in Finland-to-Baltics on-road freight, with a very long history and a diversified client base," says Greencarrier CEO Mikael Forsberg. "For us, this is an important and natural development on our journey to provide long-term and sustainable solutions to the market and to our customers. Together with the transferring operations of Transpoint International in Baltics and CEE, we become one of the largest operators in the region. We build a much stronger team and are able to provide our customers a wider offering within sustainable transportation solutions."
This purchase is aligned with Greencarrier's strategy to constantly seek for significant growth in its home market around the Baltic sea, and will further strengthen the company's position in Finland, Baltic and the CEE countries.
Invar combines for turnkey automation
Cranfield, United KingdomInvar Group has been formed from Invar Systems, a developer of warehouse control and management systems; Invar Integration (Greenstone Systems), a front runner in solutions design, hardware integration and project management; and Invar Controls, specialists in the design, implementation and maintenance of PLC software and hardware.
Invar and Greenstone have worked closely together in recent years on a large number of major projects for international brands. Most recently, the two companies worked on a joint initiative to deliver an omni-channel distribution centre for a large logistics company.

Midwest Warehouse goes with Synapse WMS

(550,000 sqm) of warehousing space across 17 facilities for Midwest Warehouse, a third-party logistics company. Specifically designed for the unique needs of 3PL providers, the software provides Midwest Warehouse with real-time operational views, customised automated billing and other robust capabilities to better serve customers and improve operational performance.
With 225 customers and a combined throughput of 510,000 truckloads per year, Midwest Warehouse looked to Zethcon to keep critical operations on track through the implementation and maximise value from the new WMS.
The company experienced immediate benefits from the new system, including increased inventory accuracy, improved labour forecasting and increased throughput from 125 pieces per hour up to 325 pieces per hour. Synapse WMS also allowed Midwest Warehouse to optimise its billing processes through automation, with easy configuration according to the needs of each individual customer.
Midwest Warehouse has plans to partner with Zethcon on additional packaging, automation and robotics projects.
