Cummins latest Performance Series engines are reducing costs for both manufacturers and users. Available from 75 to 503 kW they provide ultra-clean, responsive power for material handling and fork lift truck applications.

The EGR-free design for models from 3.8 to 12 litres displacement (F3.8 to X12) means that they are simpler, easier and cheaper for manufacturers to install. The simplicity means they are more reliable and easier for users to maintain. Service intervals are also extended up to 1000 hours to reduce costs further.

Engines up to 9 litre capacity have been developed with on average 10% more power and 20% more torque than previous models. The torque increases, particularly low in the rev range, improve lifting capability while maintaining fuel efficiency. The higher power density enables equipment manufacturers to produce machines with more lifting capability. Alternatively, they can consider using engines of smaller displacement to save cost without impacting machine operation.

The engines from 3.8 to 9 litre also feature the latest Cummins Single ModuleTM aftertreatment system, which is up to 40% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous system. The saves space and improves visibility as well supports efficiency improvements.

A further benefit is the new ENCOMPASS Extra extended warranty program for Performance Series engines. It provides a range of engine coverage options up to 5 years with unlimited hours (8,000 hours on the F3.8 engine). It can cover parts and labour or parts, labour and travel depending on customer needs. Additional coverage is also available for the Cummins aftertreatment system to provide the same protection level as with the engine.

The simpler configuration of the Performance Series engines enables a competitive program with no excess. This has a positive impact on cost of operation and protects both forklift owners, as well as forklift rental companies from unexpected costs. Customers should contact their local Cummins distributor to talk about ENCOMPASS Extra options and pricing.
