Herc-U-Lift has expanded into Milwaukee through the acquisition of Ament Industrial Truck, a 39-year-old family-owned materials handling business.

"Our newest Milwaukee location is not an upstart," says Tom Showalter, principal of Herc-U-Lift. "It is well established financially and has a great reputation. We have the infrastructure in place and know-how to leverage it for efficiency and productivity, ultimately saving our customers time and money."

While details of the transaction remain confidential, a company official estimates that the expansion involves an investment of USD2-3 million.

The Milwaukee location is overseen by Brian Holbrook, branch manager, and Matt Wittig, who heads up the service operation. According to the new owner, three additional staff have already been added since the acquisition and there are plans to add another 10 in the next year.

Herc-U-Lift, Inc. has been a Hyundai Material Handling dealer for nine years. The Milwaukee location also carries Kalmar, Trackmobile and Load Lifter equipment lines.

"Our goal is to find solutions to our customers' every problem and provide the lowest total cost for owning materials handling equipment," says Showalter. "We have the latest diagnostic equipment and know how to use it to deliver the most innovative products such as those of Hyundai Material Handling."

With the latest expansion, Herc-U-Lift now has 10 full-service locations throughout the Upper Midwest.
