Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. Application Specific Tires & Wheels
Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. has been in the material handling industry for over 50 years as a manufacturer of rubber and polyurethane tires, wheels and casters. Most recently, after comprehensive market and technical research, they have undergone a recommendation redesign moving away from the traditional practice that uses the broad fitment of standard and premium options focusing on load capacity and hardness of the compound.

Under Superior Tire's new application specific practice, there is no Standard nor Premium compound. In fact, in many situations, a premium compound would fail while some standard compounds work best. Additionally, load capacity and material hardness are just two of the criteria in a wide range of criteria to consider. In some cases, both have almost nothing to do with decision making at all. The exact application that the truck operates in would mainly justify the product. For example, in cold storage - many premium compounds, which have high dynamic properties like low heat generation, would be defensive in low temperatures. When in fact, a softer compound with a high chunk resistance would be more beneficial.

In addition to application, Superior Tire has made a detailed analysis of specific truck designs. This, with the collaboration of truck design engineers, helps Superior Tire better understand the truck design requirements for tires and wheels. Superior Tire has incorporated many of the truck design performance requirements into their application specific recommendations for tires and wheels. Some field examples include braking, drive traction, weight transition, turning radius and vibration on high working platforms.

Superior Tire has detailed application specific research on 7 proprietary polyurethane compounds to fit every application - they've done the work so customers get the best product for their application.
