Cat^® Lift Trucks has upgraded its popular DP40-55N diesel counterbalance range with a new low-emission engine which delivers class-leading power density as well as high durability and excellent economy.

Compact, strong and economical

The innovative Perkins 4-cylinder 854F unit has a capacity of 3.4 litres but delivers the kind of power you would normally expect from a 5.0 litre engine. Its turbocharged performance is optimised for low-speed torque and its industrial-strength design ensures a long, trouble-free life.

This compact but efficient engine substantially reduces fuel consumption and brings emission levels well within the strict requirements of the EURO Stage IIIB regulations. Its diesel particulate filter (DPF) is metallic in construction and is maintenance-free. It features passive regeneration, which means that soot is burnt off during truck operation rather than requiring downtime.

Other factors helping to lower the cost of ownership include a long service interval, easy access to all areas for maintenance, use of pusher-type radiator airflow to reduce cooling system blockages, careful positioning of the air intake to minimise the need for filter cartridge replacement, and an LCD display with rapid troubleshooting functionality.

Capacities of 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 tonnes are available.

User-focused design

As well as dependable power at their fingertips, for high gradeability, fast travel and strong lifting, drivers will welcome the quiet, low-vibration operation of the truck's fully floating powertrain. The robust transmission system allows smooth, accurate gear changes, with two forward choices and one reverse, and all controls are simple to operate.

Manoeuvring is light and easy thanks to hydrostatic steering, while the latest fingertip hydraulic control module, mounted in an adjustable armrest, is a further aid to precision and comfort. A PDS+ presence detection system is specified as standard, along with a limit-setting ground speed control feature and an electronic button for simple application of the parking brake.

These high-powered, durable, user-friendly trucks are ideally equipped for tough jobs in ports, on construction sites and in freight operations, for example. Capacities of 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 tonnes are available, and at 5.0 tonnes there is an additional choice between a compact or a longer chassis.

An extended range of options includes load weight and overload indicators, hook-on and integrated side shifters, a foot-operated directional control, a panel cabin with heating, and oil-cooled wet disc brakes with transmission protection.
