The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) is spearheading a UK campaign to drive down accidents and near-misses at sites that use forklifts.

The Safer Site Programme is a free, online, step-by-step safety program that anyone can implement.

Each month, the FLTA will publish a new step in the program on its website. The step will contain advice, guidance, resources and a series of practical tasks that must be completed to move through the process.

The program has been developed with the involvement of truck users who have introduced successful initiatives that have made their sites safer. The FLTA believes that sharing best practice and explaining how issues were overcome will massively increase the program's relevance to those seeking to put life- and limb-saving procedures into place.

Another key aspect of the program will be to help companies develop open, blame-free reporting so dangerous practices can be highlighted freely and without recriminations.

Details of the program can be found on the FLTA website: www.fork-truck.org.uk.
