CeMAT 2014: The most successful trade fair appearance for Jungheinrich.
Ignoring its competitors which snubbed CeMAT in favour of holding in-house exhibitions (Forkliftaction.com News #669, #670), Jungheinrich has praised CeMAT 2014 and called its participation in the Hannover-based show the "most successful trade fair appearance in the company's history".

Jungheinrich, which will mark the 10th anniversary of its Chinese operations at CeMAT Asia 2014 in Shanghai in October, has released a statement boasting that its staff at the Hannover expo "registered a substantial jump in the number of orders for a total of about EUR15 million (USD 20.3 million)".

Keeping silent about the figure invested into its CeMAT 2014 participation, which included the display of over 130 Jungheinrich products and 24 innovations, company spokesman Jan Kaulfuhs-Berger tells Forkliftaction.com News why the show was deemed a success.

"Jungheinrich (also had) more ... highly qualified visitors at the stands compared to the last CeMAT, which also was a very successful trade fair, by the way. The success of trade fairs like CeMAT Hannover is not only the order income but also ... high quality talks with (potential) customers," he explains.

The Jungheinrich CeMAT 2014 "tradeshow team" comprised 250 people from 30 countries who conducted consulting and sales talks with visitors, including showcasing not only the company's forklifts but its applications and solutions like its fleet management system, fully automated warehouse systems and new developments in lithium-ion technology.

Expressing support for the materials handling expo, Kaulfuhs-Berger stresses that CeMAT in Hannover is "the trade fair Jungheinrich puts the most means into".

"And concerning the next CeMAT, Jungheinrich is looking forward to presenting the audience with the latest innovations in 2016, too," he adds.

On the very first night of the event, the Hamburg-based forklift company received an International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award for its EFG-S40s in the 'counterbalance trucks from 3.5 T category.

CeMAT is an exclusive partner of the award and the inaugural 2013 IFOY awards were handed out at the CeMAT Transport Logistics trade fair in Munich in June 2013. IFOY is sponsored by the German Engineering Association, which is better known by its German initials, VDMA.

Toyota Material Handling, which picked up two IFOY awards (for the Toyota Traigo 80 electric counterbalance range and the Toyota I_Site fleet management system), also released a statement last week expressing its satisfaction with the show.

"Feedback from our customers is the most important measurement for us," says Matthias Fischer, president and CEO of Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE), "and we are delighted by the response we received at CeMAT this year. Moving to Pavilion 32 meant that we had a very high profile and we had a lot to talk about." TMH took the space previously held by Linde Material Handling.

Asked how much TMHE spent on its CeMAT participation this year, Hans van Leeuwen, the company's executive vice president for marketing and sales, says: "We have invested sufficiently to make it successful. If we compare with the last CeMAT, the cost was even lower, thanks to the creativity of our employees.

"We would give a high score to CeMAT 2014, but of course the final vote is for our customers and our prospects visiting us. The IFOY recognitions of two of our products/solutions were remarkable. Another success factor I see is that we have created an open, transparent, welcoming space where our customers and prospects, business partners and our people could enjoy having a good conversation in a relaxed manner.

"As long as CeMAT stays as the meeting point where our customers, prospects and partners come over from every corner of the world and stay, that is interesting for us to participate."

According to the dhf-intralogistik's world ranking list of industrial truck manufacturers, Toyota, KION and Jungheinrich are the top three largest manufacturers (Forkliftaction.com News #654).
