Materials handling equipment maker Clark projects doubling the forklift production at its factory in San Luis Potosi in Mexico's central region during 2014.
Dennis Lawrence, Clark Americas chief executive officer, notes that the facility has outperformed on expectations in 2013 and "with this expansion we expect them to surpass our original projections for 2014".
Lawrence says this manufacturing facility is "a cornerstone to the continued growth of Clark, both in the Americas and globally".
Clark constructed the plant in 2011 and began manufacturing operations at the 6-acre site in early 2012. The plant occupies 85,000 sqft. (7,650 sqm). An adjacent showroom has 4,000 sqft. (360 sqm).
In addition to the Mexico site, Clark manufactures electric and internal combustion forklifts, narrow-aisle forklifts, electric pallet jacks and electric tuggers at factories in Changwon, South Korea; Qingdao, China; and Lexington.
Young An Hat Company Ltd owns the Clark forklift business and operates it through the Clark Material Handling International unit in Bucheon, South Korea, overseeing Clark operations in North America, Europe, South America and Asia. Presently, more than 250,000 Clark forklifts operate in North America and 350,000 units worldwide.
