Nixon Hire has ordered JCB Loadall telehandlers.
Nixon Hire of Newcastle-upon-Tyne has purchased a large fleet of the latest fuel-saving Tier 4i JCB Loadall telehandlers in an order worth over GBP7 million (USD11.2 million).

The plant and equipment hire firm has taken delivery of 107 machines with lift heights ranging from 7 to 17 m (23 to 56 ft.). The order includes the 531-70, 533-105, 535-125, 535-140 and 540-170 models, all made at JCB's world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire.

Nixon Hire managing director Graham Nixon says his company chose JCB because it is important for it to work with "leading industry brands which customers know and trust".

"JCB supplies us with the products we require at a competitive price and has been the preferred supplier for Nixon Hire telehandlers since 2006. We continue to have an excellent relationship with our local dealer, Scot JCB, and its extensive depot coverage complements our own depot network very well," he says.

Developed to meet the EU Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Interim emissions standards, the JCB Ecomax Tier 4i engine used on the Nixon Hire fleet of JCB Loadalls has no requirement for diesel particulate filters or for exhaust after treatment fluids. The result, JCB says, is up to 7% improved fuel economy and 15% more torque.

The majority of the machines are already out on hire in construction and materials handling roles on a wide variety of customers' projects including civil engineering works, major house building and warehousing projects in the UK.

Established in 1967, Nixon Hire is a family-run business providing site equipment; and has 14 depots in the UK and one in Doha, Qatar. Its product range includes over 30,000 items from its core hire products that include plant and tools, accommodation and toilets.
