Editor Allan Leibowitz comments on the news of the week |
Much of the industry has been looking at the short term for the past few years, and that always poses dangers for the long-term future. That's why it's reassuring to read this week's comments from UK peak body chairman Geoff Martin that apprentices are "the lifeblood of our industry".
With more experienced people leaving the industry, there's a real risk of a skills shortage, and that will only get worse as the sector picks up. So it's important to invest in the future now, and we applaud the latest FLTA initiative.
