UK palletised distribution network Palletforce is launching a Christmas sequel to the children's book it published in 2010.

All the characters from the first book, including Phil Truck, The Big Cheese and Woody Pallet, are back for 'A Christmas Adventure', a festive tale based in the Big Hub.

In the story, the gang will try to save Christmas and deliver the presents after Santa is forced off his sleigh in a snowstorm.

"Two years ago, we became the first in the industry to launch a children's book as part of our efforts to engage the next generation in logistics," says sales and marketing director Dave Holland.

"It was so well received by our staff throughout the network and their children (that) we decided to bring the characters back together for a logistics Christmas story."

In 2010, the first Palletforce book, 'No Job Too Tall' was launched with a funfair event where TV presenter Michaela Strachan helped to lead a successful Guinness World Record attempt for the largest bedtime story reading session (Forkliftaction.com News #487).

Palletforce has also hit a milestone, distributing its 16th million pallet, 11 years after the first pallet was handled in August 2001.

"This is a very proud moment for Palletforce and a credit to the consistent efforts of our members and staff to provide a quality service that retains customers and wins new business," says CEO Michael Conroy.
